Dried #2

A pattern I created from dried eucalyptus leaves. I used Photoshop, Illustrator and hand drawing to mimic nature.

Dried #1

I dried some eucalyptus leaves some time ago. I think they will make a nice pattern on pillows and containers. To be continued.

Lesson#4

This is the assignment for my next silk printing class. The idea was to create two images, one of graphics/photo, and the other of text. The top black and white image is of my design, and the bottom is what I hope to get when I'll print transparent ink of the text on top of the graphics.

Coming soon

Squame hat pattern is coming soon.

Twisted side effects

I got a lot of requests from my fellow knitters to post my Twisted Side Effects pattern again. I just wanted to explain why it's taking me forever to do so. There are a couple of reasons why the pattern is not up yet, I took it off because there were a few design issues, and I started being allergic to anything wool. When I'll re-write the pattern I would like to use a similar yarn used in the original sweater, it's perfect for the design and LA weather. The yarn I used is a 50% cotton + 50% merino, and called Balance by O-Wool. I can't wait to re-write the pattern, I just need to find the perfect yarn.

Elizabeth

I love the European, contemporary, very clean design furniture stores on Beverly and Robertson. My latest find is this amazing and huge canvas of Elizabeth Taylor, printed in black ink with tones of sparkles. Beautiful art and so Hollywood.

Self taught

I'm a graphic designer, I was trained to be one and I creatively doing it since I was 20 years old. All my other creative venues are self taught other then knitting. My mom taught me how to knit at a very early age, I don't even remember how old I was. I decided to take a semester long silk screen printing class at Otis. I love it, the instructor is great, very knowledgeable, the students are nice and friendly (95% are graphic designers), and the lab is amazing. ; The image is a collaboration of three students printing with freezer paper as a template (our second class). I printed the raindrops.

Two in teal

New two pouches in teal, textured vinyl. Big pouch dimensions are 10.5"w x 6.75"h. Tassel is 0.75"w x 4.5"h. Small coin, cash and credit card pouch with a button stud. Small pouch dimensions are 3.75"w x 4.5"h. The small pouch fits in the big pouch for a perfect night out, or keep it in your day bag. I use it to keep change for parking meters.

It's not leather

I know, I know that we all love leather. I wanted to explore different materials for this clean, round corners design. The hot pink clutch is made out of felt, and the ochre one is vinyl. I'm looking to get some thicker felt for this project. Tassels are handmade by me also. ; Clutch dimensions are 10.5"w x 6.75"h. Tassels are 0.75"w x 4.5"h. Working on a prototype for both.

Gray scale

I can play with those for hours. Same leaves as here, scanned them and made them gray-scale, endless patterns.

Paper cut

This is one of the ways I like to silk print. First I work on a design (1), then I print it on my laser printer. I cut out all the parts I want to print (2) and tape it to a silk screen on the side that touches the fabric, not where the ink goes. I mix some inks and print my design (3). It's an inexpensive way to print simple designs.

Lemon and poppy seeds

Dry eucalyptus leaves that were collected while walking, and amazing lemon poppy seed muffins. Instead of a regular muffin pan I used a mini one, less calories for each.
