Indigo

I love indigo, the color, the process, the natural way of using it. Various artists and their indigo creations. Just beautiful.

Batik / Silk (2)

Remember my silk batik I made a couple of weeks ago? I wanted to make something wearable and usable that can showcase the beautiful technic and vibrant colors. I added an oatmeal colored silk to the center to create a longer scarf and stitched the different colorful batik silk as stripes next to each other. I also added backing in the same color. I'm very happy with the result, it will probably be a gift to a dear family member.

Batik / Cotton (2)

Remember this post about batik in cotton I was working on? This is what I made, a small quilted piece of all the different fabrics I made. I also added some embroidery to see how it will look if I'll choose to make it more textured. I chose the floss colors to be the same as the fabric, I wanted to enhance what I had, not to introduce new colors.

Batik / Silk (1)

Same assignment as here. The silk takes the dye much deeper than the cotton. I used Procion MX dye in brilliant orange (020) and raspberry (042).

Batik / Cotton (1)

Cotton fabric dyed with batik technic (hot wax is applied to each layer before dying the next color), will be cut and stitched into patchwork composition, and maybe embellished. This is a practice for a silk version.
