Indigo

I love indigo, the color, the process, the natural way of using it. Various artists and their indigo creations. Just beautiful.

Hand painted fabric

I went to a hand painted fabric class at French General. The instructor was the artist Cathy Callahan. Above are a few of my experiments with paint and fabric. Fun.

Walking foot

My sewing machine is back, I can't wait to start using the new walking foot on my quilt.

Quilt update

I have an Husqvarna Viking Freesia 425 sewing machine that needed to be serviced immediately. I got a new walking foot to sew the layers of the quilt together, it didn't work very well with my regular foot. This project is on hold for a few days until I'll get my machine back, I can't wait to continue working on it, I'm anxious to see the end result.

WIP Quilt

I decided to skip the border and quilt the top and batting together and seam the back to the front so I won't have any border. I'm trying to give it a modern/vintage look. For some reason a few of the hand dyed blocks look like my childhood bedding. I feel that there is enough "vintage" in the fabric so the quilting will have a modern look. I'm going to machine quilt straight lines in a few of the blocks, some will go from side to side and some from top to bottom. The back and the stitching will be dark gray to bring all the colors together.

New quilt

I tested a few dye colors and color combos on cotton before I dyed these scarfs. I decided to make a quilt out of all the samples I made. These are the strips of fabric after I trimmed all the excess of my design. I hope to show you the new quilt soon.
