Holiday Gifts

I got a couple of gifts from my very talented friend Limor. A gorgeous fruit bowl and three tiny metallic bowls, she even painted a unique design on the back. You'll find her amazing work in various shows in LA. I truly love her ceramics, so unique and beautiful.

Vim pattern is up and free

VIM A CASUAL SLOUCHY HAT pattern is my gift to you for the new year. You can get it here for free. • Vim is knit in the round using a beautiful Italian blend of supersoft, loosely plied 60% cotton and 40% acrylic yarn. This lightweight worsted combination makes Vim a stylish, comfortable hat, perfect for transitional weather or for everyday wear in milder climates. The versatility of the DungarEase yarn makes Vim an easy-wear, easy-care accessory. • Thank you to all the creative people that helped me make this pattern better and share it for free. Editing: Amy Jones ; Test knitter: A-Ko • Enjoy.

New

A few things I brought back from our latest trip to Israel: 1. Books, books and books, I think reading is one of my first loves in life. • 2. Body Soufflé by Laline from their store in Sarona, Tel Aviv. • Zaatar from Acre (Akko). • Harem pants (sharwall in Hebrew) from the beautiful open market in Acre (Akko). • A wallet clutch from Razi-Li from their store in Sarona, Tel Aviv. • Twist by Elite, chocolate waffle snack that I can't find here in LA any more. • Tea mix from Acre (Akko).

Papelillo

Bougainvillea is also known as papelillo in northern Peru. This happy hat is a gift to my dearest friend Noa, I hope she will fall in-love with the colors as I did. What a fun and easy project with such fantastic results. It's my first knit project after a long break and I enjoyed every minute. • You can find the free pattern here, and what I did here.

Surprise

We had a surprise visit from our friend from Japan. As always I'm blown away by the attention to details in their gift wrapping, box design, colors, fonts, the whole feel of the product before you even taste it. Each small box comes with a tiny plastic spoon attached to the top. Very high expectations on the flavor of bean paste.

UniqueLA

I went yesterday to a great design show in downtown LA called UniqueLA. UNIQUE is the destination for all things Made in America both in-person at UNIQUE LA/NYC/SF shopping events and on their site. Launched in December of 2008, the independent design show UNIQUE LA was created by community leader and designer Sonja Rasula as a way to bring local-made design and art to the masses while helping to grow and support the US economy and small businesses. New obsession

I wanted you to get a better look at the scarfs I made, I thought maybe it will explain my new obsession with dye and fabric. On the left you see the whole scarf and on the right a close up of the design. I'm very happy with the results but testing is not over yet. • I also wanted to share my new leather tags I got from coco heaven on etsy, just need to sew them on the scarfs and I'm done with these extra special gifs.
