A new stamp made out of Speedball Speedy-Carve for my weaving project.

Westedge

Over the weekend we went to Westedge design fair event located at the Barker hanger in Santa Monica airport. There were a lot of leading design brands. The first two photos are tiles from Exquisite Surfaces tiles. The interesting lamp is from Patrick Weder Design, and the beautiful carpet from The New England Collection. A lot to see and get inspired, we had a blast.

Weaving (1)

Three different weaves (plain, twill and satin) made from colored paper. They will be scanned, printed and layered with block printed pattern aimed at home furnishings market.

Leather bag

I went down town LA to get some leather to make a bag, I ended up getting more than planed (thank you LJ for introducing me to the store and for driving). I like this bag and want to make something similar. I mocked it, the next step is cutting the leather and sewing the bag, but I need to get the right hardware for the handles and pocket first. I debate between one or two pockets, and hand or machine sewing (not sure my machine will be abel to sew the leather). I'll keep you posted.

Batik / Silk (2)

Remember my silk batik I made a couple of weeks ago? I wanted to make something wearable and usable that can showcase the beautiful technic and vibrant colors. I added an oatmeal colored silk to the center to create a longer scarf and stitched the different colorful batik silk as stripes next to each other. I also added backing in the same color. I'm very happy with the result, it will probably be a gift to a dear family member.
