Pizzaiolo

We had a great dinner at Pizzaiolo in Oakland. Here is what they say "We at Pizzaiolo believe that the simple act of feeding people is at the core of what it is to be human. We focus on the ritual of taking life from the world around us and presenting it to you to sustain your own life." More here.

Yank Sing

Yank Sing is the most amazing deem sum restaurant in SF, every dish was unbelievable. We went there for lunch and had a blast. Find more here.

SFO

We spent the weekend in SF and on the way home I took some pictures of a Japanese Toys Exhibition in terminal 3 in SFO. It was truly colorful and beautiful, there were posters and actual toys. More here.

Challah bread success

Different challah recipe with different results. I love this one, easy and very tasty. I got the recipe from here. Braiding with five dough "snakes" was a little challenging at the beginning but when you get the hang of it it's pretty easy. You have to be consistent with the thickness of the dough snakes, otherwise you'll get an uneven challahs, like mine. I baked them together and used regular unbleached white flour. I'll translate the recipe to English in my next post. Enjoy.

Challah bread bad attempt

I tried baking a challah following a recipe of one of my favorite Israeli chefs and I failed, miserably. I tried TWICE, making sure I followed all the instructions. The bread came out vary dense and heavy, not fluffy at all. It doesn't even look like a challah bread. I suspect it's the amount of the dry yeast that was given. • I'm going to try a very similar recipe with a different amount of yeast and a way to dissolve it, I promise to keep you posted.
