Miga De Pan

I went to an amazing workshop over the weekend, Teri from Wildfiber hosted it at an amazing house in Topanga, California. We learned to embroider unique stitches on a hand weaved pouch. Adriana Torres came all the way from Buenos Aires to teach us all about her way of stitching, her label is called Miga De Pan, it means (one) Bread Crumb in English. I loved it, thank you to Adriana and Teri for the great workshop. • The first photo is the little pouch we made (the one in the photo is Adriana's sample), the other photos are of her work, it's very whimsical and colorful.

Comet

A new water color inspired by my latest class named COMET. Water colors, gouache and working with my tablet in Illustrator directly on the painting. Pretty fun experience.

Miga De Pan

Adriana Torres studied architecture, graphic design, illustration and fine arts and began her career as an art director. After many years it was time to bring her inspiration and creativity to her own project. The designer began her label in 2010 under the name Miga de Pan. – Miga De Pan blog

Cooking colors

I just came back from a wonderful long weekend in Portland and Washington. I attended a great class at WildCraft Studio school called Kitchen Sink Dyes. Chelsea Heffner, the owner and teacher of this class is very knowledgable and kind. We had a wonderful walk in the forest to harvest Lupine, an amazing fresh and yummy lunch and a great time learning all we could about dyeing fabric and yarn with everyday herbs, spices, flowers and veggies. More details in the next post.

Shibori Indigo workshop

I went to Shibori Indigo workshop at French General over the weekend, it was great. We made the indigo vats first and then dyed our folded/stitched fabrics. I'm so happy to find a place in LA with all these amazing workshops.

New book: Tie-Dye: Dye It, Wear It, Share It

Just got Shabd Simon-Alexander's book Tie-dye: dye it, wear it, share it. It has a lot of information about this ancient art of dying. I enjoy reading it and can't wait to start my own projects. I contacted Shabd about a dying workshop in LA, I hope to see her here soon. I'll keep you posted.
